The short answer

Most listings say “see registration” instead of a price, so these figures rest on the camps that print one.

What does a one-day ID camp cost, and an overnight one?

Price by how long the camp runs
Kind of campMiddle priceLowest to highestCamps with a price
One day$150$45 to $400128
More than one day, no overnight stay$313$100 to $56542
Overnight (residential)too few to say$540 to $7157

A middle price is printed only where at least 8 camps print one. Where a camp lists several prices, we take the first.

In these figures the price rises with the length of the camp. Before comparing two camps, check what each one includes: the number of sessions, a meal, a shirt, and for a residential camp the room and board.

Do D1 camps cost more than D2 or D3 camps?

Price by the host college’s level
HostMiddle priceLowest to highestCamps with a price
D1$214$45 to $71586
D2$134$74 to $65028
D3$150$65 to $47526
NAIAtoo few to say$101 to $1603

Compare these with the same caution as any small sample: each row rests on the number of camps in its last column. The lists themselves are at ID camps by state, with each camp’s own price line where it prints one.

What do ID camps cost in each state?

States where at least 8 camps print a price
StateMiddle priceLowest to highestCamps with a price
North Carolina$250$90 to $57511
California$229$100 to $52519
Florida$201$150 to $3508

New York$160$120 to $39511
Pennsylvania$143$45 to $54022
South Carolina$140$50 to $1708

A state missing from this table is not cheaper or dearer: too few of its camps print a price for us to say.

What does a camp really cost a family?

  • The fee. What the tables above count.
  • Travel. Fuel or flights, and a hotel if the camp is far or starts early.
  • A second adult’s time. A day off work for whoever drives.
  • The camps you did not need. The largest saving is not going to a camp at a college that was never a fit.

That last line is where the money is. A camp is worth its fee when the college is on your list for real reasons, the squad has room at your position, and the coach already knows your name. Check the roster on the college’s program page before you pay.

Is an ID camp worth the money?

It depends on what you expect it to do. A Division I college’s camp must be open to any and all entrants, limited only by number, age, grade level or gender (Bylaw 13.12.1.3), so an invitation to one is not a sign of recruiting interest: the same email can go to anyone, and camp information may be sent at any time (Bylaw 13.4.1.13(b)).

What a camp can do is put you in front of one staff for a day, coached by them. That is worth paying for at a few colleges you have chosen, and not at many you have not. More in what an ID camp is for and how to stand out at a soccer ID camp.

Q&AQuick answers

Quick answers

How much does a soccer ID camp cost?
The middle price is $179, across the 177 college camps in our directory that print one. Prices run from $45 to $715.
How much is a one-day college soccer ID camp?
The middle price of a one-day camp is $150, with a range of $45 to $400, across 128 camps.
Why do some ID camps not list a price?
Most do not print one in their listing: of the 1,888 camps we list, 177 print a price and the rest send you to a registration page. Open the registration link on the camp’s row to see it.
Does an ID camp invitation mean a coach is interested?
Not by itself. A Division I camp must be open to any and all entrants, limited only by number, age, grade level or gender, and camp information may be sent at any time, so an invitation can go to any player. Choose camps at colleges that are on your list for other reasons.
How many ID camps should a player attend?
As many as you can afford at colleges where you fit and the squad has room, and no more. One camp at the right college does more than several at the wrong ones.

How this was counted

Prices are the first dollar amount in each camp’s own price line in our directory of 1,888 college soccer ID camps. Camps whose listing prints no amount are left out. A camp is overnight when its own words say so (overnight, residential, room and board), and more than one day when its end date is after its start date. A middle price is printed only where at least 8 camps print one.
